A community where you can explore your faith, learn about justice, and deepen your relationship with God.
Campus Ministry assists the University in forming the “Whole Person,” someone who:
Is well informed and capable of critical reflection;
Is deeply aware of personal values and seeks to serve others, particularly those in need;
Strives to form a personal relationship with God.
We believe this ambitious goal can be approached most effectively within the multifaith community that we call Campus Ministry.
Campus Ministry, with a presence at all three campuses — Rose Hill, Lincoln Center, and Westchester — seeks to foster the integral growth of the entire Fordham University community but especially focuses on the personal, spiritual, and moral development of its students.
Rooted and grounded in the Catholic, Jesuit tradition, Fordham's Campus Ministry promotes a vision of what it means to be a people of God by following the "way of proceeding" set forth by St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder and inspirator of the Society of Jesus – the Jesuits. Ignatius’ way of proceeding calls for a disposition of openness and inner freedom to seek and find God's will through spiritual discernment. This, we believe, is a condition for acquiring true wisdom.
We value our shared unity in diversity, respecting the truth and goodness to be found in all cultures and religions, and the value of linking faith with justice — responding to God's commandment of love by insuring right relations within the human family, whatever our background or status. Respect for others and for the way that God works in us all grounds the spirituality and practice of the Campus Ministry team.
In Campus Ministry, we strive to offer a warm and trusting welcome to all, a "home away from home" where everyone — students, faculty, and staff — can always find a listening ear and an understanding heart. In addition to offering a wide variety of programs, retreats, and opportunities for both spiritual growth and social justice, we also live in student residences, worship in the community, teach, organize support groups, respond to emergencies, and serve on University committees and as academic advisers.
In doing so, we hope to heighten our community's awareness of God at work in our midst, and allow God's Spirit to enliven us and bring to fruition all we do here at Fordham University.
