Gregory Donovan’s Designing Smart Cities for Social Justice

Join Fordham’s Gregory Donovan, associate professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies and director of the New Media and Digital Design Program, for a conversation about his recent essay, “Designing Smart Cities for Social Justice,” which unpacks how a pedagogy of difference can provoke critical readings of hybrid urban environments. Donovan’s CEL course partners with a local settlement house to offer students both an introduction to smart urbanism as well as a space to critique and re imagine uneven flows of wealth, power, and privilege in their smart city.
