Engaged Leaders Fellowship

The Engaged Leaders Fellowship (ELF) is a new student leadership fellowship offered by the Center for Community Engaged Learning that encourages students to apply research methods to deepen their commitment to community engagement. In academic year 2020-2021, we are hosting two cohorts: the Montserrat Cohort and the Pamplona Cohort. Each cohort comprises twelve interdisciplinary students representing a variety of departments, colleges, and class years.

Engaged Leader cohorts meet biweekly and discuss ways to bring epistemic justice to our campus. They engage in conversations about the history of New York, the history of community organizing and advocacy, and the academic study of community engaged learning. They then ideate practical community-based research questions and form projects to address those questions from a reciprocal, community-driven lens. Projects will be presented at the Fordham University Undergraduate Research Symposium in April of 2021.

Students must be nominated by someone in the Fordham community and then interview with CCEL for a spot. We will begin seeking nominations for our Fall 2021 cohort in Summer of 2021. For more information, contact Vanessa Rotondo, Assistant Director of Immersions and Student Leadership.
